Season 2006 and 2007
These were two tough sporting seasons for Koen. Koen had the misfortune that his team for two years in a row for connected to doping allegations. Koen himself had nothing to do with any of the doping activities but unfortunately Koen did not have any victories in 2006 and 2007.

Victories in 2008
Koen did not record any wins in 2008 but did come in 3rd place at the Dutch Elite national time trial championships in Zaltbommel.

Koen was born on September 8th 1982 in Gouda, the Netherlands. After primary school he went to the Jacob Roelands secondary school in Boxtel where in 2000 he received a VWO (or pre-university secondary education) diploma. After that Koen went on to study Human Movement Sciences at the VU University in Amsterdam. He received a Bachelor diploma from these studies in December 2004. His final thesis was on how log books are used and their usefulness in sports. A subject that would have prepared him well for his time as a professional cyclist. Koen is a member of the Schijndel Cycling Club.
