Preliminary Selection for the World Championships
Nieuwegein, August 25th 2010 - The Dutch national team for the
World Championships Road Race in Melbourne, Australia is beginning
to take shape. National coach Leo van Vliet has decided on six of
his nine men. Koos Moerenhout and Dutch time trial champion Jos van
Emden will contest the World Championship time trial on Thursday
September 30th. The two will start the road race on Sunday October
3rd as well. They will be joined by Lars Boom, Karsten Kroon,
Sebastian Langeveld and Dutch road race champion Nikki Terpstra.
Due to coming ninth place in the UCI World Ranking, the Netherlands
is able to field a team of nine for the World Championships road
race.
After announcing six of the nine starters for the road race,
three places remain. Nine riders have a chance of taking these
three available spots: Laurens ten Dam, Johnny Hoogerland,
Koen de Kort, Michael Kreder, Steven Kruijswijk,
Tom Leezer, Martijn Maaskant, Wout Poels and Maarten Tjallingii. On
September 8th, it will be announced who has secured these spots.
The World Championships will take place between September 29th and
October 3rd in Melbourne, Australia.
