The first stage from Holstebro to Holstebro over 175 km finished in a mass sprint that was won by Australian Matthew Goss. Koen rode for team sprinter Kenny van Hummel who came 4th while Koen crossed the line in 12th place.

The second stage also finished in a mass sprint. The stage took the peloton 169.7km from Vildbjerg to Randers. It was the Belgian Michael van Staeyen who bet the rest of the field. Dane Matti Breschel came 2nd while Koen's teammate Bert de Backer came in 3rd. Koen crossed the line in 19th place.

The queen stage was Friday's stage from Hadsten to Vejle, a 185km stage with several climbs. The climbs were short and steep with the one very tough one at 21%. Koen rode the stage very well. He stayed well place for the entire stage. Unfortunately he was hindered when Danes Jakob Fuglsand and Matti Breschel from Saxo-Bank broke away from a splintered peloton on the final climbs with 25km to go. Breschel won the stage ahead of Fuglsang. Koen finished 25 seconds later in 7th place. The peloton finished in small groups as it had broken up on the uphill finish in Vejle. In the general classification Koen had moved to 6th overall, 41 seconds down on Breschel who also took the overall lead.

The fourth stage on Saturday morning finished after 105km in a mass sprint that was won by Australian Mark Renshaw. Renshaw won ahead of his HTC-Columbia teammate Matthew Goss. Dane Alex Rasmussen came 3rd. Koen finished in 16th place. Team sprinter Kenny van Hummel was held up by a crash and finished in 8th place.

On Saturday evening an individual time trial of 19.4km followed. Koen left the starting house at 20.03 for a time trial that he would like to forget quickly. The time trial was not progressing well and then in the finale Koen got a flat tyre, which resulted in a time of 25'34". This ended up being 60th place. Canadian Svein Tuft won the time trial with a time of 23'20". Tuft moved up to second place overall behind Dane Fuglsang who took over the lead from his compatriot and teammate Breschel. Koen dropped to 19th place overall.

The final stage from Høng to Rudersdal took the riders 186km and was won by New Zealand's Hayden Roulston. Roulston maintained a fragile lead of several bike lengths ahead of a charging peloton to win the stage. Koen crossed the line in 29th place. In the general classification that was won by Dane Jakob Fuglsang, Koen finished in 18th place.
